Ideas are everywhere. Everyone has them. If you look at something that isn’t working correctly, or optimally, and consider a possible solution to fixing it, you’ve had an idea. You have them all day, every day.
The problem, however, is that the percentage of these ideas that we actually act upon and execute is minimal. Extremely minimal. Why? Well, everyone has their own reasons why, of course. Time, resources, fear of failure. The list goes on. So ideas sit in our heads, stagnating, and are filed away in the “One day…” cabinet of our brains. A very dark place to be.
A few years ago we decided that having ideas was not enough. There had to be more. It was at this time that I received in my inbox one of the most powerful statements to make an impact on the way I live, and the way I do business. The statement read “Ideas are not something you have. Ideas are something you do.” delivered by Hugh MacLeod.
It was then that, as a business, 21Tanks evolved to not only being the people with ideas, but the people to make those ideas a reality.
But we couldn’t possibly help every single person with an idea, could we? How do we give every person with an idea a kick in the pants or the inspiration to make it a reality? And there the idea for “Get It Done” was born.
Do Ideas is designed to encourage every person with an idea, to do that idea.
Through a number of extreme varying perspectives on how to get things donre, the aim of this book is for any person reading it to resonate with at least one contribution, and realise that people from all walks of life, from all around the world, are getting things done. And so can you.
